Term: Spring 2016
Project Title: GoGo Campus
UConn GTDI Project Award: Application Accepted & Funding Awarded

Even though people in Bandar Lampung prefer fresh organic vegetables grown without harmful pesticides, they are too expensive and difficult to find. Deni hopes to make organic vegetables more affordable and easily accessible by introducing farmers to alternative farming methods like aquaponic and hydroponic farming. By hosting workshops in different areas of Bandar Lampung, Deni's GoGo Campus organization has begun to educate Indonesians how to produce high-quality, fresh, organic vegetables in a more sustainable manner than traditional farming methods.

Five-Year Project Goals:

  • Build a large greenhouse
  • Hire 500 urban farmers
  • Create partnerships with other agricultural start ups in Indonesia

Organization Information: GoGo Campus

GoGo Campus works to increase access to fresh and organic vegetables, while also working towards advocating for environmentally sustainable farming methods. GoGo Campus believes in educating people of all ages about the opportunities of hydroponic farming. They organize hydroponic farming workshops for urban farmers to offer them an environmentally sustainable alternative to traditional farming methods. The organization also provides agro-tourism for children in primary school to educate them about how food is grown. In addition to their educational initiatives, GoGo Campus also produces a bottled juice packed with nutrition from fruits and vegetables they grow at their hydroponic farm. Deni used UConn award funding to purchase enough hydroponic farming equipment to grow over 2,000 vegetables.
