Organization Information: C.F.I.S

The Computer Science Training Center of Safo (C.F.I.S) aims to bring computer science classes to people in the rural town of Safo, located close to Bamako, the capital of Mali. Because many people live in rural communities outside of Bamako, they lack access to computer science training. By bringing these types of classes to small towns, the organizatcfis-logoion helps to increase economic possibilities and the potential of these people by helping them acquire skills in order to advance in technology fields. As many more jobs require the use of computers, the demand for these computer science skills is always increasing. After completing computer classes from C.F.I.S, individuals gain desirable skills to pursue a career in the technology field.

The organization also offers English classes to students so that they may improve their English proficiency level in order to improve their job prospects. C.F.I.S has partnered with the U.S. Embassy in Mali and the embassy has donated books to support the organization's effort to teach English to students. In it's first year, C.F.I.S trained more than forty participants and provided them with certificates as proof of their achievements and knowledge learned. C.F.I.S continues to inspire young people to pursue their dreams by teaching them technology skills and the English language so that they may attain good jobs with a living wage and escape poverty.
